Empowering Youth, Shaping Futures

Are you a human services professional or a parent looking for a program that fosters personal growth and character development in youth?

Look no further than Character Matters with At The Roots LLC!

Our 10-session program is designed to help youth explore various facets of their character, encouraging them to reflect on who they are and how they want the world to see them. Through engaging one-on-one sessions with our trusted and trained facilitators, youth participants will have the opportunity to delve into meaningful discussions and learn how to make decisions that reflect who they truly are.

Character Matters is not about judgment, it’s about exploration.

Character Matters emphasizes self-reflection and the self-evaluation of choices and behavior, empowering youth to define their own character. Too often we’re all told who we “should be” and aren’t given the space to learn (and love!) who we actually are. Character Matters creates this space by honoring each unique individual’s story and right to choose their own path while encouraging empathy, accountability, and curiosity.

Throughout the process of self-discovery, participants naturally begin to notice character traits they appreciate in others. This is key to identifying healthy relationships and cultivating positive natural supports - a key ingredient to recovery and long-term success.

What to Expect:

Educator developed curriculum

Character Matters curriculum was developed by an experienced educator who used their professional and lived experience to combine evidence-based education practices and peer support values. This means that sessions are focused, easy to understand, engaging, and most importantly, youth-driven.

Supportive connection

Adding another supportive and positive adult to any child’s life can have a huge impact. We know that connection is preventative and healing. So while we have a curriculum to follow, our most important job is to build strong connections and make sure the youth feels supported on their journey.

A focus on self-reflection & Choice

Ultimately, how a person feels about themselves can have a huge impact on how they show up in the world. Character Matters focuses on self-reflection, decision-making, and personal accountability, three skills needed for long-term success and happiness.
