Special interests: Holistic nutrition and lifestyle techniques for mental and emotional wellbeing | alcohol recovery | controlling positive and negative thinking patterns | Nature immersion for mental, emotional and physical health

Trista brings her diverse lived experience and great passion for helping others together as a provider for At The Roots LLC.  After over a decade of battling and overcoming her struggles with mental health and alcohol addiction, she was able to pursue her passion for nutrition and healthy living by becoming a Certified Holistic Nutritionist.

She understands the importance of healing inside and out.

Trista has lived experience with a unique childhood and troubled teen years, alcohol addiction, severe anxiety, negative thinking and depression as well as emotional and sexual abuse from a partner. She is also part of the LGBTQ+ community and in the past felt the pressure to hide it. She also has experience with incarceration and the stigma that goes along with that. She has great empathy for those who are struggling with the many hardships of life and hopes to use her lived experience to be there for others who need it. She understands the feeling of being alone, of having no one to talk to or no one who you feel could possibly understand.  The fear of being judged and ostracized.  She deeply believes that while a person’s mistakes, trauma and struggles (past and current) may shape who they are, it does not define who they are. She greatly embraces individuality and expression and knows we all have the potential to be our best selves.

Trista strives to use her extensive and ever-growing knowledge of nutrition and holistic healthy living to support mental health and addiction recovery. Others close to her have come to her time and again for a helping hand, to lend an ear or shoulder to cry on. She has been told by many she is easy to talk to, and she’s happy to be that person. Sharing the positive thinking strategies she personally uses daily and techniques to control negative thinking, she hopes to help cultivate self-esteem, self-love and self-worth, and motivation to continue to grow. She believes strongly in a good balance of physical, mental and emotional health for overall wellness.  Engaging in activities like mindfulness, meditation, yoga, hiking in nature or just walking around outside can immensely improve mood and outlook. Really any fun activities to get you moving and in a positive mindset! Trista also believes it’s important to have a strong support system and sense of community, to know you are not alone. She hopes to help build and encourage that through At The Roots LLC.

Trista enjoys spending time with family, friends and her cat kids. In the not freezing cold times of year, you will rarely find Trista indoors, she lives to be in nature. Hiking, kayaking, backpacking or camping is where you’ll find her. She also loves music and dancing and has music on most of the time at home or in the car. She enjoys sewing, painting and drawing and other crafty things. When she needs to be indoors, she enjoys board games, video games, movies and shows, or just curling up with a book, a warm cup of tea and a big fluffy blanket. Trista loves to smile and laugh while making others smile and laugh and feel included and accepted.
