Provider Spotlight: Jason Noble

Jason is one of our valued providers, who I was surprised to learn started in 2023, around the same time as me. The way I thought he had been here from the start makes me think that he has brought many years of support work with him, and we are so grateful for the experience and expertise he brings to the team. Here’s some more about Jason in his own words:

Where are you from/where did you grow up?

Where are you from/where did you grow up?

I grew up in northern MN in Bemidji. I lived there until I was 12 . At which point my dad sold everything we had moved us into a 1962 international pickup with a prototype motor home on the back, and away we went traveling the country and doing Renaissance fairs. We traveled the circuit for about a year. We settled on Fall Creek Wisconsin. It was close enough between the MN Fair and the Bristol fair down in southern Wisconsin that we could travel between the two. I attended Fall Creek schools and graduated in 2002.

When/why did you get into peer support?

I first heard about peer support from Mike. We were working together at the paper mill. He was telling me about how his wife Renee was starting a business. What it was about. But with the long hours at the mill I didn't think I could work at the mill and do peer support at the same time while raising a family. Fast forward a couple years. My partner Katherine had applied for the job and Mike reached out to me to ask about her. While we were catching up he told me I should give it a try. At this point in my life I could make it work so in December of 2023 I started my journey in peer support and haven't looked back.

Where would you like to see peer support go in the future?

I would like to see peer support more accessible to those who need it, but don't qualify for CCS. I would like to see private insurance cover it.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy making a difference in the lives of the people I support. I had no idea that a job could be this emotionally rewarding. I always thought a job was something to be endured to continue to live. With being in peer support I've found great fulfillment on a personal level.

What are some of the challenges in your job?

Some challenges I found at first was wondering if I was doing a good job. There was no one to shadow me or tell me what to do. I soon found out that the people I worked with thought it was helpful. That parents were reaching out saying that I've made positive changes in their children. Now I just trust the feedback I get for the people I work with.

Any hobbies or interests outside of work?

I had a major knee surgery in 2023 before that I was super involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I competed and coached a beginner class. Since than I have been trying to get back into the sport but finding time in my schedule has proved difficult. I also play board games and enjoy Tabletop RPGs. When the weather permits, I like to spend time outside going for hikes and foraging for mushrooms as well as camping and canoeing.

What is your favorite movie/book/TV show?

Since starting this profession, I have found that I drive a lot so to pass the time I listen to audiobooks. So many books. I am currently reading Hyperion by Dan Simons, and it has grabbed my attention and has yet to release it.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever gotten?

Never assume people are being mean. They might be joking or playing, or it may have just come out wrong. If they are indeed being mean they will soon make it apparent, and you won't need to guess.

Can you share any fun facts about yourself or something your colleagues may not know about you?

I strive to be a hobbit. Valuing food and friends over wealth and things. I try to remember the quote from J.R.R. Tolkien "I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay"

💖Thank You for all that you do, jason! 💖
