SPECIAL INTERESTS: Mental Health & Recovery | Youth Support | Creative expression

Hi! I’m Greta, and I’m originally from the Chippewa Valley, where I grew up in a family shaped by mental health and recovery. Those early experiences left a big impression on me - not just the hard parts, but also the growth and resilience I saw along the way. Watching my mom build a new life in recovery showed me what’s possible, and it’s a huge part of why I care so deeply about this work.

I’ve faced my own mental health challenges over the years, and I know how powerful it can be to feel supported, especially when things feel overwhelming or unclear. The care and insight of people who saw something in me helped me get to where I am today. That’s what I hope to offer others through peer support: real connection, encouragement, and a belief in the strength people already have inside them.

Through therapy and my ability to see the bigger picture I have managed to graduate from Chippewa Valley Senior High School. I have successfully graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with majors in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies, and with certificates in Gender and Women’s Studies, Social Justice and Education, and Entrepreneurship. And I am now enrolled at Marquette University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Adolescent and Youth Counseling. I know how important support is when you can’t see your vision for your life. My therapist and some very special souls I’ve met along the way have been critical to my success and fortitude. In my position at At The Roots, I aim to be that support system for those people who sit where I once was. My sister, my mother and I are all testaments to the human spirit and I aim to help people realize all of who they are.

In my free time I enjoy singing and song writing. Find me everywhere @GretaOfficial. I also like science fiction things like Wizard Quest (in the Dells), Halloween events and Skyrim (the video game). I adore dogs! I love all things fashion, high heels and glitter AND I still love really amazing food. My friends are my chosen family in this life - grounding me and supporting me through everything. My family has taught me so much in both what to do and NOT to do. I aim to continuously heal generational traumas and become all of who I am through love and pain. Yay human experience!
