The Little Recovery Handbook

Imagine you decided to make a change in your life…

Maybe your mental health challenges are beginning to interfere with your daily life and you want to change that.

Maybe you want to get sober.

Or maybe you want to reduce your alcohol or drug use.

Where would you start?

Enter The Little Recovery Handbook…

This little book is packed with resources and information to help guide you through the process.

It was created by the Eau Claire Health Alliance, a “broad-based Coalition and focused Action Teams that are all working to promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities of Eau Claire County” and their Substance Misuse Action Team.

You can download your copy from their website: echealthalliance.org

The book gives a definitive overview of the types of resources you might consider when beginning recovery.

Depending on your recovery needs, you might find a support group helpful, or maybe inpatient treatment makes sense for you.

No matter what fits into your plan, knowing what is out there can help you start thinking about what kind of support you need. Finding out if you can qualify for county programs is a great place to start, and you can reference the book to find out how.

You’ll also find crisis resources and a detailed list of the specific resources available to you in Eau Claire County, including family support and harm reduction.

Since everyone’s recovery looks different, you can read through the various resources and decide what would be most beneficial for your situation.

If you need free or reduced-cost services, there is a number and website listed for that as well.

If you get stuck during the process, refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section for some suggestions. It can help guide you if you are in need of insurance or medications or end up on a waiting list.

The first steps to recovery can be hard, but it’s significantly less hard if you don’t have to do this alone.

Establishing support can make a huge difference in a successful recovery.

The Little Recovery Handbook is here to help you on your path and remind you that “there is always hope.”
